Meet Sarka: A Lifelong Carer Who Puts Her Heart into Every Visit
For Sarka Pazlerova, care is not just a profession — it’s a calling that started in childhood and has guided her across countries and cultures.
Born and trained as a nurse in the Czech Republic, Sarka’s path took her to the Greek Islands and later to Sydney, where she now calls home with her husband and family.
“Even as a little girl in kindergarten, I knew I wanted to be a nurse,” she shares. “Caring for others has always been part of who I am.”
After years of working with children with disabilities and earning her nursing degree, Sarka found her way into aged care — a space where her experience, compassion and presence have made a lasting impact.
“Nursing or caring is the most rewarding job I know. You get to make a real difference in people’s lives.”

In November 2025, Sarka was recognised with the Team Excellence Award at the Home Care Assistance Sydney East Carer Awards — a testament to her reliability, compassion, and unwavering commitment to both her clients and her colleagues.

One powerful memory stands out — caring for a non-verbal client with dementia and Parkinson’s disease. “Even when his wife told me he couldn’t understand, I continued speaking to him as I would with anyone because I believed he could still hear and feel that connection.” She recalls. “But one day, he smiled at me and squeezed my hand. In that moment, I knew he did understand — and that I was making a difference.”
