10 Things Seniors Should Put on a Bucket List

|

Creating a bucket list is a great way for seniors to set goals and work to achieve them. While providing home care, Sydney East, NSW, caregivers should encourage their loved ones to prepare such a list and recommend these 10 simple and healthy activities.

1. Be a Tourist in the City

Regardless of where they live, there may be many places in the city seniors have yet to explore. Even if your loved one thinks otherwise, encourage him or her to check out something new in the area.

2. Watch a Sunrise and a Sunset on the Same Day

Although many seniors wake up before sunrise and stay up until sunset, they may not have noticed the sunrise and sunset in a while. The beautiful colors of the rising and setting sun are often overlooked. Encourage your loved one to spend a few minutes focusing on them.

3. Visit 5 Different Museums

Every museum has a unique focus, and most seniors will not have to travel far to visit five or more. There are plenty of fun educational activities at museums for your senior loved one to explore. Make sure he or she does not overlook small museums.

4. Try 10 Types of Ethnic Cuisine

There are so many different ethnic cuisines in the world and yet, most people try only three or four in their lifetime. Challenge your loved one to try at least 10 different cuisines. For health-conscious or mobility-challenged seniors, professional caregivers in Sydney East can fix healthy meals at home.

5. Feed Animals at the Zoo

Even if your loved one cannot walk around anymore, he or she can still enjoy feeding animals at a zoo. Most zoos are wheelchair-friendly and offer low-cost admittance for seniors, making them the ideal bucket list item for your parent or grandparent.

6. Volunteer

There are many places in need of volunteers. Encourage your senior loved one to do some volunteer work. Every aging adult should volunteer at least once in his or her lifetime. Many seniors find volunteer work so fulfilling they want to go back more often.

7. Read a Book

There are over 129 million books in the world. Therefore, encourage your loved one to take up reading as a hobby. Some libraries provide free access to their books and are likely to have the book your loved one is interested in reading.

8. Take a Lesson

Many aging adults always wanted to learn something, but never had the time to do so. Encourage your senior loved one to take a low-cost lesson in his or her field of interest, which may be offered at libraries, community colleges, and senior citizen centers.

9. Go on a Date

Seniors often enjoy going on dates. You can help arrange the perfect date for your loved one and his or her special someone. If your parent or grandparent has not met with friends in a long time, plan a friends’ day out.

10. Write a Letter

The art of letter writing is nearly lost. Yet, almost everyone loves receiving a special letter. Encourage your loved one to write to someone special telling why the person is so special.

Jeremy is a really good man, he has fantastic family values and cares for everyone. I would definitely recommend Health Care Assistance to help you and your family
As a former employee of this company working in the office and as a Carer, I cannot recommend this company enough. They genuinely care for their clients and employees. I loved working there with... Jeremy and his staff, but unfortunately had to leave due to relocation. I would not hesitate to recommend HCA Syd East to all clients who are aged and/or with disabilities to engage this service provider for all their vital services to enable you to live and enjoy staying in your own home and to be as independent as possible. Jeremy and his staff really listen to your needs, goals and aspirations and do their very best to match you up with a compatible and suitably qualified Carer. Nothing is too much trouble.read more
Great team
Home Care Assistance run by Jeremy and Samantha, a lovely couple with a caring attitude and a family themselves. After bringing my Mum to Sydney and needing expert help immediately I found HCA online... and liked their story. As soon as they walked in our door, we knew we were safe. I liked the fact that there was direct contact with the owners and nothing was too much trouble. The carers selected for Mum were perfect for her and very capable. Unfortunately Mum has had to move to a nursing home now but I would happily recommend this wonderful business to anyone with aged care needs.read more
