Different Levels of Home Care Packages
Technically speaking, there are 4 home care package levels for financial assistance to seniors with care needs. When a participant is assessed for any home care package, the assessor in question will also establish the level of funding the aged senior is eligible for. Eligibility is determined by various factors. Let us discuss the different home care package labels.
Level 1
Level 1 package is designed to cover the fundamental needs. It includes assistance with basic day-to-day tasks. Depending upon the provider chosen, the participant will have a different amount of funding available.
What does the Level 1 Home Care Package include?
- Personal care & assistance with Domestic activities
- Preparation of meals as well as assistance with shopping
- Transport & Social support
On July 1, 2022, the Government announced a subsidy for level 1 Home Care Packages to the tune of $9,179.75. This amount is set to increase every year.
Level 2
The home care package level 2 is designed to extend support to individuals with low-level care and support needs. This package provides more funding than funding needed for Level 1. The level 2 funding is designed to support senior Australians and provide them with a wide gamut of services.
- All the care services available for the Level 1 home care package will be available for the level 2 home care package as well. However, a level 2 home care package is eligible for greater assistance in terms of service hours.
As of July 1, 2022, the Government subsidy for level 2 Home Care Packages stands at $16,147.60. It is slated to increase every year.
Level 3
The level 3 Home care package is designed to support senior Australian citizens with intermediate care needs. Individuals can choose from a wide gamut of support and service to help them live at home with optimum comfort.
In addition to tasks included in level 1 and level 3 packages, support is given for issues such as changes to memory as well as behaviour.
As of 1st July 2022, the subsidy provided by the Government for the Level 3 home care package is stated to be $35,138.55, which increases every year.
Level 4
It is the highest level of home care package funding designed to support older Australians with very high-level care needs. With the level 4 package, an individual will be eligible to receive more than $50,000 annually. This fund is for individuals with disabilities who continue living in their homes.
